WELCOME TO YEAR 6

British Values Day

On Thursday 19th January we invited parents into school to join us for a lesson on British Values. In the lessons we discussed a variety of British Values including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance for other people’s beliefs and cultures. We discussed what these values meant and how they were important to us not just as a school community but as a national one. It was lovely to welcome parents into school to share learning with us and we look forward to inviting you into school again.

SATs 2023 Parents Meeting

We held a parents meeting to discuss SATs, which are to be held week beginning 8th May 2023.Please see slides attached and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Year 6 team.

Maths Lessons at All Hallows

Class Six are becoming regular visitors at All Hallows. On Tuesday, eight of our class members attended all Hallows for a maths lesson with Mr Baggs. All of our children had a great afternoon where they were able to compete against each other to see which pair could answer the most correct questions. We would like to thank Mr Baggs, Mrs Teesdale and Mr Tomlinson for a fantastic afternoon.

Transition Morning at All Hallows

On Wednesday 7th December the children were able to attend All Hallows RC Secondary School for a Christmas Craft morning. Here they were able to make a variety of Christmas crafts and had the opportunity to work with children from other primary schools. The children were even treated to toast and a drink! We would like to thank the team at All Hallows for a great morning.

Advent Craft Morning

I has been an absolute pleasure to welcome families into all our classes today to celebrate Advent together. In Class Six we were joined by numerous parents who helped their children to make a Father Christmas craft. It was great to see everyone get involved and share this special time together.

After making our crafts together, we shared time in prayer in the school hall thinking about Advent and how we all prepare for the birth of Our Lord Jesus. Class Six would like to tank all of our parents for joining us today and we look forward to sharing similar times with you in the future.

Rights and Diversity Week

This week in school we have celebrated the universal and unconditional rights that we all have. These rights belong to everyone and should be honoured. This week we also celebrated Anti-Bullying week where we talked about the Anti-Bullying Alliances 'Reach Out' campaign. As part of that campaign we wore odd socks and collected £1 to be donated to CAFOD.

Class Six Assembly

The Feast of the Birth of Our Lady

Today class 6 celebrated the life of Mary, Our Lady, the mother of Jesus. We reflected upon the life of Mary, what her sacrifice meant for Jesus and what it means for us today as 21st century Christians. We prayed to Mary and asked her to give us the strength to be true followers of her son Jesus.

We would like to thank our families and all of the other wonderful people who visited our school to watch our assembly.

Multi-Faith Day-Judaism

In class today, we invited out parents to school so that they could see what we are learning about in RE and what we learn about world religions other than Christianity. Today we were joined by parents whilst we learned about the origins of Judaism and the importance of Abraham to the Jewish faith.

We completed the first lesson of our multi-faith booklets and at the end of the lesson understood that Abraham loved God very much and that his obedience made him the father of Judaism.
