Holy Family Catholic School

As Holy Family, we learn, believe and seek to make the right choices, as God's children

School Counselling Service

The school counselling service provides emotional and therapeutic services for all pupils in Holy Family, the objective is to build children's resilience through talking, creative work and play.

Counselling gives a child the opportunity to explore how they feel without the fear of judgement. Speaking to a counsellor away from their home or school life can take away some of the pressure.  Counselling offers a safe environment for them to express their feelings and understand what may have caused them to feel this way.

School Counselling at Holy Family

The School Counsellor, Geri is based in school each Monday and Tuesday.

When can counselling help?

Sometimes children can feel particularly anxious, sad, confused, fearful or angry, due to, for example: family challenges such as separation, illness or bereavement, friendship issues/bullying or any number of other concerns.

What support does the counselling service offer?

1:1 SupportGeri offers 1:1 therapeutic support to children in the school, parents and carers will have the opportunity to meet with Geri before, during and after counselling.

Lunchtime drop-insGeri runs sessions each lunch time where children can make an appointment for some support with friendship issues or to chat about things that are worrying them. We have 2 post boxes in school where the children can post their forms to make an appointment.
